There was one other massive “Not My King” protest on Commonwealth Day

Yesterday was Commonwealth Day within the UK. In the course of the day, King Charles, Queen Camilla and their different “working royals” traveled to Westminster Abbey for a particular Commonwealth service. Then, hours later, Charles and Camilla hosted a Commonwealth Day reception at Buckingham Palace, and the working royals themselves — minus the Princess of Wales — all attended. To begin with, the Commonwealth was already tense within the ultimate years of QEII, and will probably be torn aside underneath King Charles. He mainly does not care concerning the Commonwealth in the identical approach his mom did, and – I feel – Charles has made peace with the “loss” of ties to many Commonwealth nations.

However there are even larger issues than that. Charles’ math has all the time been: it is okay to depart Britain’s historic ties to the Commonwealth in tatters as a result of the British monarch must be extra localized, smaller and extra manageable. As in, he considers himself monarch of the UK and never an empire. Besides Charles cannot even depart the fort unprotested today, and the protests and rallies hold getting larger and louder. Y’all – the Chubbly is lower than two months away and Republic continues to get increasingly more volunteers to protest Charles.
